ZSKSoft Synchronizer - Folder Comparison and Synchronization Tool.

Click to view a large screenshot   ZSKSoft Synchronizer (abbreviated as ZSync) is a multi-purpose folder synchronization program. Purchasing it, for instance, to synchronize with your laptop computer, you will be able to also use it for publishing your web site on the Internet, creating backup copies of a complex project, organizing teamwork with a colleague who you communicate with via e-mail or just for comparing two folders and much, much more.

Other synchronization programs merely compare contents of two folders to be synchronized and seek for the file with a newer date and time. ZSKSoft Synchronizer can do that too, but it can also remember the synchronized state and during the next session it looks for the actual changes only. Imagine you have edited a file on your laptop computer and then, having forgotten to synchronize, added more changes to the same file on your desktop computer. ZSync will make sure none of your work gets lost; it will detect the conflict, highlight the file in red, and will not synchronize until you take the required steps to resolve the version conflict.

A particular attention is to be paid to the ease and convenience of operation. Having started the program, you will instantly see what has changed, how serious that is, whether or not there are any conflicts or suspicious changes, and what is going to be done. Everything is intuitively clear: the files and folders state is marked with easily recognizable icons, gravity levels are highlighted in color, and right where the program is planning on taking some actions, it places the corresponding action buttons. To exclude files and subfolders that shouldn't be synchronized, just drag them, to the "off" category with your mouse. The special explanation pane provides detailed description of any file or subfolder: what it was like before, what it is like now, what seems to be suspicious, etc.

Major Features

ZSKSoft Synchronizer allows you to compare and synchronize regular folders (local and network), ZIP-archives, FTP folders, and remote folders (located on a remote computer with no direct connection to it; the only communication way is through diskettes, e-mail, flash memory, etc.)

You can synchronize two, three, four or just about any number of points (locations) at the same time. Files and folders can be arranged into categories by name (i.e. by specifying a certain file or folder name), by file type (*.txt, *.doc, *.bmp, etc.), and by name patterns. The changes flows are configured individually: which files and folders and in which directions are to be synchronized (these are my files, and they must be copied from my computer to the public folder; these are my colleagues' ones, and they must be copied the other way around - to my computer) or aren't to be synchronized at all (temporary files, object modules, etc.)

It's amazing how clear and convenient the user interface is! An entire project or its individual parts, even individual files can be synchronized at once. "Anchor" the files and folders that aren't to be synchronized temporarily. Proper processing of switching to and from the daylight saving time (over a local area network, WINDOWS, for some reason, likes to add / subtract one hour to/from the files' timestamp.) Demo examples, synchronization scheme templates, responsive technical support - there are just a few of what you are going to get after clicking on the following link:

Usage Examples

You can use ZSync for synchronizing with laptop; this is described in detail in the corresponding chapter of the program's user's manual.

You can use the program for mere comparison of folders. For instance, if you were copying a large amount of data while all of the sudden the power went off, you can compare the source and the destination and see what has been copied and what hasn't. You can resume copying with ZSync right off.

Use ZSync for publishing web site(s); this is also described in detail in the manual. By the way, the zsksoft.com web site where you are currently at is maintained exclusively with ZSync.

You can use the program for synchronizing with a remote computer - for instance, the office computer with the home one - this case is also described in detail in the example. Or to synchronize a project that you work on along with another developer who lives in a different city (or in a different country.) The technique is not any different, and all methods for detecting possible conflicts perform the same way as they do in all other cases.

Of course, you can use ZSync for coordinating developers in a local network. Again, the manual describes this case in detail.

Use the program for centralized update of information. For instance, if you have got several computers running in the network, and you need to copy new versions of catalogs on each of them from time to time - you can create a synchronization scheme that will refresh data on all of these computers from a common source. ZSync lets you create a scheme with any number of points; therefore you will be able to update all the computers at once. Also, only the catalogs that have been changed will be copied - you will find this very helpful when you need to carry out the update over a distributed network accessible via a slow dial-up channel. Besides that, if connection with one of the computers fails, ZSync will remember what hasn't been synchronized, and the process will be continued when the connection is restored.

You can use this program for creating backup copies - this example is also available in the manual. Currently, ZSync can work with the ZIP format only; it is the most popular at the present moment, although it's not the best one. Although the modern hard drives' capacity lets you disregard the compressed files' size difference, you can tell ZSync in details what exactly must or must not be included in the archive.

You can download updates to your computer from a centralized source. For instance, you can use ZSync for updating anti-virus databases via FTP. There is a nuance there though: by default, ZSync "thinks" the changes will be transferred from a local folder to the FTP and not the other way around; therefore, it doesn't even query the FTP folder to save your time and bandwidth. You will need to disable the "slow" property in the FTP folder's properties, and everything will work properly.

As you may see, ZSync is a truly multi-functional tool, and you can use it to solve your specific tasks, which even the developers cannot guess about. If you lack some functionality - please contact us, and we will try to realize that in the future versions.
